If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know my only real complaint about living in Mississippi is the lack of good, affordable, organic produce. I have been looking for a CSA since we got here and have had zero luck. That all changed this week.
A friend found a farm co-op/CSA in Alabama that delivers one hour from us! So far, five local families are going to participate and share the driving.
You can buy eggs with your share, and there is also an online store that you can buy bread, meat and even flowers to be delivered with your share. They have three plans to choose from, and even those are customizable every week.
I can't wait to pick up our first share!
Marty and I also went ahead and joined a co-op in Jackson, even though it is 1 1/2 hours from home. The membership is 1/2 price this month, and most of the things we buy are considered Member Staples and are sold at a discount, and if you spend $25 a month, you get 10% off. They also have member days where everything in the store is 10% off. Y'all know me... I will be stocking up on member days! We will make our $12.50 membership fee back in no time, I'm sure.
So far, our commitment to eating healthier, whole foods is coming along nicely.
